I want to personally thank the staff at the Fort Lawn Community Center for the investment they made when accepting the challenge to enroll me as one of their WIA students.

I had spent the last 20 years of my life working at Continental Tire. I had none of the following when I entered the Fort Lawn Community Center

  •  No college (graduated high school 1965)

  • No tech education

  • No computer skill

  • No Grammar or writing skills

  • No knowledge of the internet

  •  Weak knowledge of filling out employment applications

  • Never written a application cover letter

The person I was January 07, 2006 when I entered your facilities has now not only found new employment but also blesses the day her employment at Continental Tire ended. I have become

  • Highly motivated

  • Computer Literate ( Excel, Word, Access, Power Point , Internet )

  • Able to use grammar skills that relate my thoughts to be clear and concise

  • Exceptional public speaker (no longer any fear)

  • Desire to tackle the marketplace as quickly as possible

  • Present a professional resume that will make me shine

  • Stand out during a interview by asking intelligent questions that shows my professionalism

  • MOST IMPORTANT BECAME A FLCC VOLUNTEER

When I applied for employment with the company I have now joined it was for a different position for which—the  company had already filled—but the employer offered me another position with a guarantee to move at the first available opening.

The Fort Lawn Community Center taught me in my Career Readiness classes to take advantage of any golden opportunity that will place me in the position to reach my desired goal—therefore I joined their team and look forward to proving myself as an excellent employee who deserves advancement.

Thank you again,  Linda H
